22 March: Locating the Story in the City, Bilbao

Museo de Reproducciones (San Francisco, 14)

Electroclass is an audiovisual project by artist María Ruido and produced by consonni, taking the shape of a film comprising 7 chapters each of which lasts 7 minutes, based on a notion of the televisual stripping down of ETB in collision with other audiovisual materials.

ElectroClass is a film about the work imaginaries shaped by autonomous television within the Spanish State since the 1980s. Taking the ETB archive material as the starting point and the city of Bilbao as a concrete case study, ElectroClass explores the collapse of the traditional concept of the working class, the changes in our work conditions from industrial capitalism to cognitive capitalism and outsourcing, and the radical transformation of the city 'polis' within the 'Bilbao trademark”.

To contextualise this work of disassembly, a parallel investigation has unfolded transversal to the project involving more than 20 interviews, along with cinema and video programming within Zinebi 53, the International Festival of Documentary and Short Films of Bilbao, and a seminar: ARTISTS KILLED MEDIA STARS in collaboration with AlhóndigaBilbao and Bizbak UPV/EHU. During the week running from 19 to 25 March the 7 chapters will be broadcast individually on ETB3, and on 22 March at 22:30 the complete film will be transmitted on ETB3 as the final act of the ElectroClass project, and after that day it will be possible to view the film on ETB a la carte, on the ETB web.
