‘Contracömic’ is a radio programme presented by Borja Crespo and Elizabeth Casillas which aims to discover other worlds in this one, via a comic and its multiple possibilities. The fanzine as an artistic object, self-publication as a form of expression, a comic as activism and a critical tool, the committed cartoon, etc. It is focused on exploring the crossed fertilisation between the graphic medium and other arts, giving a voice to new trends, discovering new talents and essential authors which have opened up new expression channels. ‘Contracömic’ conceives a public interested in culture in general and comics in particular.

Episode #01. New looks

In this first CONTRACÖMIC episode, a map of new trends in the medium will be drawn up. We will also discuss the avant-gardes revolutionising the comic concept and we will be chatting to María Medem, one of the most interesting emerging artists, and recently awarded a prize as Revelation Author in the last edition of Comic Barcelona. During our talk, we will be returning to an old debate which, after the publication of ‘Cadencia’, the new work by Roberto Massó, returns to the forefront: What is a comic?

‘What would Barbarella do?’, in this sonic space, the Bilbao feminist science fiction festival co-ordinator and translator Arrate Hidalgo dissects the key topics on current feminism through science fiction. With scalpel in hand, she takes a speculative text and extracts the debate to look for its mutations in other fiction styles and in contemporary feminist thought. She is accompanied by the critic Laura Lazcano in her section dedicated to audiovisual.

Episode Nº 02 Relational Galaxies

The exploration of alternative relationships to monogamy has been a popular field in science fiction since its inception. Based on Marge Piercy's Woman on the Edge of Time, the classic utopian feminist novel, this first episode will look towards polyamory as an element of political speculation. We will also look at the love trios and the various versions that have been given in the examples of state and international speculative, observing the imaginary of sexuality in audiovisual science fiction, we will ask ourselves if we achieve to wriggle out from patriarchy in one of the manifestations of the polyamory most talked of the genre and we will investigate with James Tiptree, Jr. in the most problematic parts of the desire to the alien as Otro. All this crossed by ideas that Brigitte Vasallo picks up in her essay Pensamiento monógamo, terror poliamoroso.
