Walter Benjamin, conocido filósofo y teórico del arte, especializado en la idea de original y copia. Años después de su trágica muerte en 1940, reaparece. En 1986 con su conferencia “Mondrian ’63–’96,” organizada por el centro marxista y ŠKUC Gallery en Ljubljana, y al año siguiente en la exposición TV Gallery” en Belgrade. Posteriormente publica su tesis “On Copy” (2003), realiza una entrevista (“My Dear, This is Not What it Seems to Be,” 2005) y co-comisaria junto con Inke Arns, la exposición What is Modern Art?” (Kunsthaus Bethanien, Berlin , 2006).
Esta conferencia “La deconstrucción del arte” que Benjamin va a dar en el museo de Reproducciones de Bilbao se dio por primera vez en 2011 en el Times Museum (Guangzhou) en chino, el mismo año en Arnolfini (Bristol) en inglés. En 2012 se da la conferencia en español en el MuAC (Mexico City), en Tranzit (Budapest) en húngaro y en francés en the Institutions by Artist (Vancuver) y La Plateu (Paris).

A lecture by Walter Benjamin, well-known philosopher and art theoretician, concerning original and copy. Years after his tragic death, he reappears. In 1986, with his talk “Mondrian ’63–’96,” organised by the Marxist centre and ŠKUC Gallery in Ljubljana, and the following year at the “TV Gallery” exhibition in Belgrade. Later on, he publishes his thesis “On Copy” (2003), participates in an interview (“My Dear, This is Not What it Seems to Be,” 2005) and co-curates, with Inke Arns, the exhibition “What is Modern Art?” (Kunsthaus Bethanien, Berlin, 2006).
This lecture The Unmaking of Art, was first held in 2011 in Chinese at Times Museum (Guangzhou) and the same year at Arnolfini (Bristol) in English. During 2012 in Spanish in MuAC (Mexico City) at the Tranzit (Budapest) in Hungarian, and at the Institutions by Artist (Vancouver) in French. In 2013 in La Plateu (Paris) in French too.
And in Thursday 11th, he will be in Bilbao as part of the Pablo Marte's program 'The problem lies in the medium.'
